Immediate Language FAQ

Frequently-Asked Questions

I've downloaded the soundtracks but I can't open them. Any ideas?

The soundtrack files are in a compressed format (called '.zip') to reduce their download size. Most desktop computers can decompress these files automatically, but some mobile devices might need an app to help with this. For Android devices for example you could use 'WinZip for Android' or 'AndroZip', both of which are available from the Google Play Store. The Apple Store provides similar options.

Are you planning to make an app for this?

Not at this time. We prefer instead to concentrate our efforts on writing and delivering high-quality content. However, the Immediate Language system has been specifically optimized for ease of use with 'Flashcards' and 'Spaced-Repetition Learning' techniques, and there are various software applications out there which can provide this functionality in electronic form. Please see our links page for recommendations and more information.

What's the next language going to be?

Please visit our home page to see forthcoming publication dates.

Why don't you show the written form of the foreign language in some of your publications?

The Immediate Language system is designed to get you talking in your chosen foreign language as quickly as possible, with minimum learning effort and no distractions. For those languages which use a similar alphabet to English, we include the written form as an added bonus. But for exotic writing systems (such as Arabic or Chinese, for example) having to learn the written language would only increase the learning burden and distract from the primary goal of developing conversational fluency.
